What UK clinics charge for composite bonding, and why the quotes vary.

Which teeth composite bonding suits, and which it doesn't

Bonding suits

  • A chipped corner or a worn, uneven edge
  • A small gap between two front teeth
  • A tooth that is a little short, narrow or oddly shaped next to its neighbours
  • Teeth you want evened up without drilling them down

Something else suits better

  • A big colour change across the whole smile: whitening first, or veneers
  • Heavily worn or broken-down teeth: a crown holds together what bonding cannot
  • Crowded or crooked teeth: clear aligners move the teeth, then bonding tidies the edges

Your dentist tells you which you are at the consultation, and says so plainly when bonding is not the right answer.

How composite bonding works at our clinics

  1. Your free consultation

A dentist checks your teeth and bite in person and tells you honestly whether bonding suits you, or whether veneers or another treatment would serve you better.

  2. Your plan and price in writing

You know which teeth, what they'll look like and exactly what it costs before you commit to anything.

  3. Your bonding, in one visit

Tooth-coloured composite is matched to the shade of your teeth, shaped onto them by hand, set with a light and polished. You walk out with the smile the same day.

My front tooth had been knocked out, and after many years of neglecting my teeth I was absolutely terrified about going to see a dentist. Everything was professionally and very sympathetically dealt with by all staff. I've never had such a good experience with a dentist. The problem with my front tooth was all sorted within an hour and I have an affordable plan to deal with other dental issues.

I had emergency tooth extraction with Dr. Zain on Sunday evening at 8pm, and I must say that was a World Class Service without stress and pain! It took less than 20 minutes and I walked out with no pain at all. Only £20 for consultation, very good discount for my extraction, plus a free full mouth check booked for next week. If you struggle with money, they offer an excellent payment plan. Highly recommend.

I booked an emergency appointment here as I had some concerns about my gums. I was extremely nervous as I hadn't been to the dentist in several years. The girls on reception were so welcoming and the dentist made me feel relaxed and listened to. We took many breaks during the deep clean which I highly appreciated. I'll be coming back for regular appointments now I know how calm and accommodating the team are.

I woke up in excruciating pain, needed tooth extraction. Sorted me out with no pain or anything. Gave professional advice, seen me within 10 minutes — bearing in mind this was 1am. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Me and my family will definitely be joining their family plan for ongoing treatments.

I came into this clinic really nervous about treatment but left feeling well looked after by Sara from the second I walked in. Dr Zain really took the time to explain my options clearly so I feel like I made the best informed decision for myself. Along with Ariba, they worked well together and were efficient with their care. Thanks guys!

I booked online at 9.30pm and made an appointment at 10pm, came in with pulsating toothache. Zain the dentist was exceptional — being a nervous dentist-goer, I had phase 1 root canal. The process was explained to me prior and during, and I was made to feel very comfortable. What a great service. I've been booked in for a follow up free of charge in a week.

My husband came in for a last minute appointment today and they fit him in without any issues. He had a tooth removed and was very nervous but was put at ease by the amazing dentist who talked him through every step. Ria on reception was exceptional — she assisted him setting up a payment plan with a welcoming smile. Very modern and clean. My husband is no longer in pain thanks to this amazing team.

Having a huge fear of the dentist, today couldn't have gone any better for an emergency appointment. Dr Abid put me at ease through the whole process. He considered my fear and had a great attitude towards me. Bonus that you can book the emergency appointment online and not wait in a phone queue.

Can not praise UrgentCare Dental enough. Christmas Eve 3.30pm, filling fell out, gum swollen. With it being Christmas my dentist was shut for 5 days. Phoned UrgentCare Dental and was seen within the hour. X-ray taken, informed my tooth had cracked and gum was infected. The tooth was removed and I was given another appointment for 2 weeks to check everything was ok. The staff were amazing — very welcoming and informative.

Questions about composite bonding

Is composite bonding right for my teeth?

Bonding suits chips, small gaps, worn or uneven edges and teeth that need a little reshaping. A big colour change or heavily worn teeth may do better with veneers or crowns, and your dentist tells you which at your free consultation.

Composite bonding or veneers?

Bonding adds tooth-coloured composite to your own teeth, from £199 a tooth. Porcelain veneers are £695 a tooth and need a thin layer of enamel taken off to fit. For chips, gaps and worn edges, bonding is usually the simpler choice, and your dentist tells you honestly which suits you.

How many teeth will I need?

It depends on your smile. One chipped tooth is one tooth. A whole new smile usually means the six to ten upper teeth that show when you smile, and your dentist counts it with you at your consultation.

Does composite bonding hurt?

Most people find bonding comfortable, because the composite is added to the tooth rather than drilled into it. Your dentist tells you at the consultation whether any of your teeth need numbing.

Will the bonding match my other teeth?

Yes. The composite is matched to the shade of your own teeth before it goes on, then shaped and polished by hand so it looks like tooth.

How long does composite bonding last?

Bonding lasts for years with good care, and a chipped edge can usually be repaired rather than redone. Your dentist tells you how to look after it.

Will composite bonding stain?

Composite can pick up stains from tea, coffee and red wine over time. A polish at your hygiene visits keeps it bright.

Can I spread the cost of composite bonding?

Yes. Over 60 months at 12.9% APR representative, a tooth is from £4.45 a month and six front teeth from £26.68 a month, with no deposit. Finance is subject to status, and the representative example is on this page.

What does the consultation cost?

Nothing. After you book, our team calls you to take a £20 deposit that holds your appointment, and it is refunded in full when you attend, even if you don't go ahead.

Which clinic should I book at?

Whichever is closest: Armley in Leeds, Newton Heath in Manchester, or Bingley for Bradford. Bonding is the same price at every clinic.
